The story of Ariyo Catholic Learning Institute began in 2019, when the first Jesuit team visited Bonga and recognized the urgent need for quality education that would serve both the mind and the spirit. In 2020, land was secured with the support of the Vicariate of Jimma-Bonga, marking a decisive step toward turning the vision into reality. In 2021, Jesuit visits continued as planning advanced and the educational mission of the institute became more clearly defined.
A further site survey took place in March 2023, helping prepare the way for implementation. In July 2023, construction officially began with the launch of the project and the development of the Jesuit Community House. By August 2024, work on the school itself had begun, with classrooms and key educational facilities taking shape. The project has continued through logistical and resource challenges, sustained by community support, benefactors, and Jesuit commitment.
Ariyo’s history is therefore a story of faith, perseverance, partnership, and hope for the future of young people in Bonga.
