Ariyo Catholic Learning Institute is owned and operated by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) of the Eastern Africa Province. The institute was founded to respond to the need for quality, faith-based, and holistic education for young people in and around Bonga, especially those from underserved communities. From the beginning, Ariyo has been envisioned not simply as an academic institution, but as a place of human formation, moral growth, and community transformation.

At Ariyo, education is understood in the Jesuit sense of forming the whole person. This means developing the mind, nurturing conscience, strengthening character, and encouraging service to others. The institute seeks to accompany students toward maturity, responsibility, and hope, while remaining grounded in the teachings of Christ and the values of the Church.

Ariyo’s identity is therefore both educational and missionary: to serve, to uplift, and to help form ethical leaders who will contribute positively to Ethiopia and beyond.
